Parental Alienation, in which children refuse contact with one of their parents without good reason, is one of the most problematic features of family separation.  Families Need Fathers Scotland has invited Dr Sue Whitcombe to Edinburgh on February 11th to talk on this topic. Dr Sue Whitcombe will talk about her therapeutic work with families affected by parental alienation and on her research on this phenomenon.   She is the principal psychologist at Family Psychology Solutions, a Community Interest Company based in Middlesbrough, which offers specialist services for families and children, and the professionals, practitioners and organisations who work with them. AFTERNOON SESSION - Considering the welfare of the alienated child

14.00 - 16.30 at 10 Palmerston Place Edinburgh.  This session is intended for lawyers, mediators and other staff who work with families. This session will consider how parental alienation can be identified at an early stage, when it is most responsive to intervention, the psychological and social outcomes for children affected by parental alienation and appropriate interventions.

EVENING SESSION - Supporting parents to deal with parental alienation.

19.00 - 21.00 at 10 Palmerston Place, Edinburgh.  This session is a chance for fathers and other family members affected by parental alienation to find out more about the work of Dr Sue Whitcombe. Her talk will be followed by a discussion about this topic and what is currently happening in Scotland.
