The UK Government has announced that it intends to introduce a 'shared parenting clause' into the Children Act 1989, with the aim of the legislative change being "to ensure that children are able to benefit from a continuing relationship with both parents following family separation".
This change will have no direct effect in Scotland, but FNF Scotland will be suggesting that a similar amendment to the Children (Scotland) Act could be included in forthcoming Scottish Government legislation on Children's Rights. This would follow the principles outlined in Article 9 of the UN Convention of the Rights of the hild..
This announcement comes in the Government response to the public consultation on co-operative parenting following family separation.

Hi my partner has been fighting to see his son for 10 months now the case has not yet reached a court as his ex partner agreed contact at her local contact centre yesterday April 13th. My partner arrived alone as requested by the contact centre only to find out that his ex was there with her new boyfriend and ofcourse my partners son, my partner was unware that his ex's new boyfriend would be attending contact as it was agreed only for the 3 of them, to add further upset my partner was told that to see his son he was to be introduced as Martin and not dad as her new boyfriend was now his sons father, my partner was unware of this once again his letter from the centre stated he would be introduced to his son again as dad, as my partner was upset and unhappy with this decision his ex partner called off contact could anyone share son advice on this as we are now stuck on where to go next?
