INTERNATIONAL MEN'S DAY: Make a difference for men and boys

Men and women all over the world are invited to use International Men’s Day - Thursday, 19 November  2015 - as an opportunity to make a difference for men and boys all over the globe.
This year’s International Men’s Day theme is designed to help more people consider what action we can all take to “Make A Difference” by addressing some of the issues that affect Men and Boys all over the world such as men’s shorter life expectancy;  the high male suicide rate; our collective tolerance of violence against men and boys; the struggles that boys can face in getting an education; and the challenges of acheving recognition of the individual and wider benefits of productive father-child relationships.
International Men's Day has indentified "Six Pillars":

ONE:   Making A Difference by promoting positive male role models
TWO:   Making A Difference by celebrating Men and Boys’ positive contributions
THREE: Making A Difference by focusing on Men and Boys health and wellbeing
FOUR:   Making A Difference by highlighting discrimination against Men and Boys
FIVE:   Making A Difference by taking action to improve gender relations an
SIX:   Making A Difference by taking action to create a safer, better world for everyone
Founded in 1999 by Jerome Teelucksingh, Ph.D., a faculty member in the History Department in the University of West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago, International Men’s Day celebrates the contributions and selfless sacrifices that men make to our families, our communities, and our world. Observed in over 70 nations on 19th November of each year, International Men’s Day shares a 48-hour partnership with Universal Children’s Day which is observed worldwide on 20th November of each year.
