Men's Health 10k in danger

The Men's Health Forum Scotland, organisers of the Glasgow Men's Health 10k for the last 7 years, has no government funding this year. While still trying to apply for specific funding they are raising the real prospect that there will be no race in 2013.

They are looking for donations to keep the event going as well as lobbying of potential funders.

As well as giving thousands of men and their family and friends a great day out, the Men's 10k has a more serious side and that’s to engage men in Scotland in healthy physical activity and to promote health and wellbeing all year round.

The 10k has been a fundraising event for runners raising money for FNF allowing them not only to raise their own fitness level but also to allow non resident dads to show their own kids (and grandchildren and nephews and nieces) their commitment to them.

Father's Day events in Glasgow and Edinburgh

Father’s Day can be difficult for anyone who isn’t seeing their children, and FNF has always organised activities to highlight this issue, such as a boat trip on the Thames.  This year we will be represented at two events in Scotland over the Father's day weekend.

GLASGOW: The Men’s Health Forum runs a Men’s 10k event in Bellahouston Park.  We will be publicizing FNF Scotland in the event programme, and also have some supporters taking part in FNF t-shirts.

EDINBURGH:  A Father’s Day Storytelling Celebration is being held from 11am to 4pm on Saturday 18th June, at The Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh.  As well as storytelling sessions for fathers and their children and live music, the free event includes an exhibition “My Dad and Me”, workshop sessions on ‘the challenges of fatherhood’ and ‘being a storydad’. FNF Scotland will have a stall at the event.
